NMAT Questions
National Medical Admission Test (NMAT) Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Do I need to study for NMAT?
- Some will say na no need to study hard, since high school stock knowledge lang needed sa NMAT. Based sa experience ko, if you want to get a good grade and ma-meet mo ang cut off ng most school sa Philippines which is 40%, I suggest study well. Do not ever believe sa sinasabi ng iba na madali ang NMAT at basic high school knowledge lang.
- After taking the NMAT, I told myself "WTF sa nagsabi na basic lang ang NMAT" . You really need to study dahil may mga topic na need ng deeper knowledge katulad ng mga VSEPR sa Chemistry.
- If you are aiming na magkaroon ng SCHOLARSHIP, study hard and aim for 90% and make sure na ang GWA mo sa college is 1.0-1.80ish
2. Is there a FAILING GRADE sa NMAT ?
- Fact: While there is a claim na walang failing grade or percentage sa NMAT , in reality super depressing kapag nakakuha ka ng 40% below. Why? because MAHIRAP makapasok sa medicine school since most of the school requires 40 percentile and up. UNLESS I-allow kayo ng school of choice mo to waive your score and re-take again sa next NMAT.
3. Do I need to enroll in a review center?
- If you have the wealth of enrolling sa review center, go ahead especially kapag gusto mo makakuha ng good grades- self study and diligent attendance + good attention equals to success.
- If you are in a tight budget
- Yes! Gumagana po ang self review. How? Need nyo lang po talaga magsipag and maraming resources online po.
- Or either manghiram kayo ng review booklet ng friends nyo. Sometimes mas effective talaga ang self review especially if super determined to pass the exam.
- What if I don't have the wealth, no friends and no other means of resources?
- May kasabihan na If there is a will, there is a way. Marami pong sources online and I will make a concise post and reference regarding po dun.
- I can also post my reviewers or send them to your emails upon request po, pakicomment na lang po ang e-mail address ninyo or send me a message.
- I will make a post regarding sa other means of method , Kaya mo maipasa ang NMAT, tiwala lang.
4. Frequency of NMAT exam
- NMAT exam is offered twice a year, around April and December.
5. Bits of Advice - NMAT
- After processing your NMAT:
- Arrive to your designated testing area at least 30 minutes to one hour early.
- Dress decently and comfortably. Wear closed shoes/ rubber shoes. Bring jacket just in case na sobrang lamig ng designated room.
- DO NOT BRING BAG, CELLPHONE OR OTHER KINDS OF ELECTRONIC DEVICE,WATER AND ANY KIND OF FOODS. Wag matigas ang ulo, andaming nagkaproblema diyan, maraming nagdala ng bottled water, cellphone and bag . Kahit hand bag bawal po. Ma-stress lang kayo dahil kung wala kayong kasama na iba, kailangan nyo humanap ng spot or way para maiwan mga gamit nyo.
- PLASTIC ENVELOPE- where you will place your needed documents such as xerox copy of diploma, xerox copy of tor, valid id, nmat identification form , nmat examination permit, pencil mongol number 2, sharpener, eraser, wallet.. Yan lang po ang main content ng envelope nyo. Please check the website of CEM for further instructions.
- Relax lang sa exam wag masyado kabahan, tandaan “If you don’t try at anything, you can’t fail… it takes back bone to lead the life you want” - Richard Yates
